Re: Suggestion: Advanced Input Formats

Yeah, it's starting to get a little crowded on there :-) Hmm, you have a good point. I could essentially lay out the advanced input just like my other portfolio adjustments. I wonder if that would make it lose a certain awareness you get from seeing all the years at once, rather than a couple of def...

Re: Advanced Input Bug [FIXED]

I just had to tweak the way inflation was being calculated.

Please verify.

Re: Advanced Input Bug [FIXED]

Even if I put in 40000 for year 1, 11, 21, 31 I see the same issue. Although would that be 40k in those dollars, do I have to inflate it to do it correctly? Or if I put in 40k with inflation adjusted on it will adjust as well what that 40k means? Hmm. I see the same thing. The part that I fixed WAS...

Re: Advanced Input Bug

I saw the problem immediately with debug on. In the input form, there are 5 rows of 10. For the sake of the simulation logic, the very first value is set to 0 by default (it can be anything except the R value). It turned out that every row started with a 0. So, that 40000 spending only lasted 10 yea...

Re: Gold/Cash

I managed to get gold prices for the entire length of time that my stock data is (did you know that gold stayed still in price for 20 years in the 1800s? Ha). It will take a bit longer to figure out howto validate the form for totalling your allocation to 100%

Re: Soliciting Advice on Advanced Inputs (accumulators)

Another point: I plan on forcing the user to input using "today's dollars" and adjusting the inputs for inflation. Do you think it's necessary to allow users to feasibly NOT use "today's dollars"? If you are talking about adding/subtracting a lump sum at some future point, I cou...

Re: REQUEST: Print any non-default settings to output

This is easy enough. I'll add it to the list.

Soliciting Advice on Advanced Inputs (accumulators)

I'm trying to build the advanced interface for people to be able to enter information for each individual year. I'm planning on having a set number of years displayed (50) and it will use the first X amount of years, depending on how many years you make your simulation last. (ie, if you set the simu...

Re: Gold/Cash

Seems easy enough. It appears that Gold's historic average gain since 1871 is 3.1%/yr. I'll put that as a default. I'm not sure the Historical Savings Account data is worthwhile, seeing as rates are completely abysmal right now. I'll put cash as a 0.25% default. Is it feasible to use actual histori...

Replacing Graphing Library

I was not happy to find out that the graphing library that I'm using for the nice graphs doesn't natively support X and Y axis labels. Over the next couple days, I'll be replacing that library with something that can. So, please bear with the label-less graphs for a day or two.
