Re: Where do we start?

With the holidays behind us (what a bad time to start a project, eh?), I managed to merge the Angular UI commit and added some more functionality to the year-by-year simulation to simulate spending and got started on including market gains. Hopefully we'll have a framework of simulation up soon, and...

Re: Generalized PMT withdrawal method

Siamond,

In the forums, I noted that I'm doing an open-source complete re-write of cFIREsim. As such, a lot of non-groundbreaking issues will sort of be set aside. This re-write will make things a lot more flexible and easier to maintain, so we'll be able to accommodate ideas like this :)

Re: Inflation assumption for extra spending

Or, alternatively, does the 6% inflation entered into the simulation only start in the first year of "extra spending -- which is 2038 in this case (rather than 6% inflation starting now, in 2014, reflecting 2014 dollars)? This is the correct answer. The "inflation" for any given Spen...

Question on inflation

One of the most often requested "features" of cFIREsim is that we change how the yearly calculations are done in regards to spending. As it stands, "spending" for a given year is taken out at the end of the year, where all the market gains and other calculations are done. This do...

Re: Where do we start?

Maybe I should have read this thread before diving in... Anyhow I just submitted a pull request that simplifies Jeff's JSONinifcation (imho), details are in the pull request. What's the plan going forward? Since there's a crowd of us I think it'd be worth it to write a design document that includes...

Re: Not calculating enough years

It looks like this bug is back. Also, when you save to a .CSV file it is only showing Retirement Year - Retirement End Year instead of from Today's date - Retirement End Year. Thanks for all your work. :) It shouldn't be doing this. It's possible you were confused by another change. I just redid th...

Hmm, curious. It appears to be 1 year off. Let me look into it.

Re: Changing Hosts - Problems with Logging In

Also of note: Saved simulations are linked to your forum account. However, because I've had to revert back to my old hosting plan, and I've upgraded the forums on the new hosting site, there will be a time where these accounts are not linked. To access saved simulations, use the "Login" li...

Re: Changing Hosts - Problems with Logging In

It appears that moving hosts has caused more problems than I thought. I just moved cFIREsim back to the original host. For the moment, the forums are directly hitting the IP address of the "new" hosting, until I get a temporary host name in place for the forums. I'm working on ensuring tha...

Re: Where do we start?

I like the sound of all the data being in JSON. As well as simplifying the dev environment it may also allow the code base to be refactored into a library + a UI. That way it could be used as part of other projects. Saving past simulations in cookies/localstorage also sounds like a neat solution. W...
